Why new companies need one
An Indonesian company must have a full registered address that suits its business activity, and for a foreign-owned company that usually means a commercial building. A serviced desk you have not yet rented cannot be used before you have it.

The question to ask before committing
Will your business classification be accepted at a virtual office? The rules that let a company register in a shared office building cover trade and service businesses. An activity that needs premises of its own, such as manufacturing, needs its own location approval.
If your classification requires real premises, a virtual office will not carry it, and finding that out at the licensing stage means moving and re-filing. We check this before you sign, not after. It is one of the questions we settle while structuring a PT PMA.
When to move on
A virtual office suits a company that is establishing, or one whose people genuinely work elsewhere. Once you have staff who need somewhere to sit, serviced offices are the next step and can usually keep the same address, so no registration changes.

If a tax officer or a licensing official visits the address, what do they find?
With a virtual office alone, they meet the receptionist. A visit like that should be arranged in advance between you and the visitor, so that someone from your side can be there and a meeting room can be booked. Turning up unannounced to an address where nobody can speak for the company is not a good outcome for anyone.
