THR calculator

Enter one employee's monthly wage and how long they have worked for you. You get the THR they are owed, the latest day to pay it, and what it costs if the payment is late.

For a daily or casual worker, use their average monthly wage over the last twelve months, or over the months worked if that is fewer.

Scripting is off in this browser, so the figures cannot be changed. Both sums are worked on an example of IDR 12,000,000 after 5 months, and the working under each line is what to apply to your own.

The dates that matter

  1. 30 days before

    Dismissal no longer avoids it

An employee on an indefinite contract who is dismissed from here on is still owed this year’s THR.

  2. 7 days before

    The latest day to pay

Pay on or before this date. After it, the late sum above applies.

  3. The holiday

    Their religious holiday

Idul Fitri, Christmas, Nyepi, Waisak or Imlek, according to the employee’s religion.

Enter a holiday date and the markers become dates. They are counted in calendar days, because the regulation says “7 (tujuh) hari” without defining a day — so if the latest date lands on a day your bank is closed, pay before it.

The regulation does not say how a part month counts

Permenaker 6/2016 works in months of service and gives no rule for a month that is only partly worked. That is why this calculator asks for completed months and leaves the part month to you. If your company has always rounded it up, keep to that practice — see the second point below.

What this calculator does not decide

  • Whether an employee qualifies at all in the edge cases — a fixed-term contract that ends before the holiday, or a transfer from another company. Those are set out in our guide to THR in Indonesia.
  • Whether you owe more than this. Where an employment contract, company regulation, collective agreement or established practice gives more, the higher amount is what is payable.
  • The income tax on THR. That is part of running payroll, not of working out the entitlement.
  • Rounding. It rounds to whole rupiah, which is a choice this tool makes rather than a rule it applies.
